How can I help Tomee in Math?

Tomee has had consistent schooling and has done well in Math. She had a very good education in Thailand, and excelled in Math. She is the only ELL in Pre-Calculus. However, she struggles to understand what the teacher explains at the beginning of each class period before work time, and often guesses as to the correct way to solve equations. She wants to earn a good grade in this class. Take a few minutes to consider:

1) What does a typical Math classroom look like? What happens at the beginning, middle and end of class?
2) In what ways is Tomee challenged in this setting?
3) In what ways can you draw on Tomee's strengths in this setting?
4) As Tomee's Math teacher, what are the three key elements to his success in your classroom based on the resources she brings to school?
5) What is one pedagogical strategy you can implement to encourage Tomee's success?

She is unable to take cohesive notes, and typically writes down one or two English words that she does understand. Tomee is very detail oriented, but she often guesses about how to complete the work and does so incorrectly. She complains often that this class is "so boring". Please consider:

How can I help Tomee in English Language Arts?

Tomee is placed in a mainstream ELA class because she has had some formal training in English. The course is typically very project based, where students are expected to work on various tasks in small groups. Tomee thoroughly enjoys the social aspect of a project based class as she enjoys visiting with classmates about the latest fashion, celebrity gossip, etc. Despite her ability to maintain social relationships, and her ability to understand written English, Tomee struggles with the literary elements included in the class. When thinking about strategies to help Tomee in this context, please consider:
