Presidential Election- Reading Comprehension

This is a perceptive reading assessment for Secondary School ELL students. This is a formal formative assessment. The reason this is a perceptive reading task is because students have to look for specific words and information within the larger paragraphs in order to answer the multiple-choice questions. This test is practical because it is always easy to grade multiple-choice questions. The test is authentic for those ELL students in United States classrooms because it gives them a general overview of presidential elections in the United States. A weakness of this test is that ELL students may not be citizens of the U.S., and therefore may not ever have the ability to vote and therefore, may not have any interest in presidential elections (SH).
