Intensive Speaking Assessment
This assessment is an intensive speaking assessment. It is a formal, summative assessment on how well a student can speak. This assessment works well for a speaking assessment because it is valid in the fact that it mainly tests a student’s ability to speak by using picture cues. The student still must understand the spoken directions, but that is a small part in the whole of the test. It is a good assessment because it tests the ability to understand the speaker when he or she uses minimal pairs, such as key and bee as well as his or her vocabulary. The only downside to this exam is that the student still must be able to listen and understand the directions, which relies on listening and not speaking. Overall, it is a great intensive speaking assessment in the fact that it is practical to grade, reliable in the answers that will be given, and valid in what is being assessed.
